Privacy Policy

Down For All Or Just Me ("we", "us", "the service") provides a free uptime checker at downforallorjustme.com. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your choices. We built this service to be private by default — we don't sell data, we don't run third-party advertising trackers, and we keep logs to a minimum.

Information we collect

1. Site checks you perform

When you look up a website (for example shopping.com), we record the hostname so we can monitor it from our servers and show shared status to other visitors. We do not link these checks to your identity.

2. Server probe data

We run automated reachability checks every few minutes from our own servers. The response time, HTTP status, and up/down state are stored and shown publicly on each service page.

3. User reports

If you click a "what problem are you having?" button, we store the report type (e.g. "login issues"), a coarse timestamp, and a salted hash of your IP for rate-limiting and abuse prevention. We do not store the raw IP alongside the report.

4. Comments

Any text you submit in the comments section is public. Don't include personal information you wouldn't share publicly.

5. Logs

Our hosting provider keeps short-lived request logs (IP, user agent, requested path) for security, debugging, and abuse prevention. These are typically rotated within 30 days.

Information we do not collect

• We do not require accounts, email addresses, or passwords.
• We do not sell or share data with advertisers.
• We do not embed third-party advertising trackers or social media pixels.

The "What is my IP" tool

The IP lookup page at /tools/what-is-my-ip shows your public IP address back to you. We do not store the IP address shown on that page beyond the standard short-lived request log described above.

Cookies and local storage

We use a small amount of local storage in your browser to remember UI preferences (such as theme) and to throttle duplicate report submissions. We do not set third-party advertising cookies.

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting, cookie-less analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns (page views, referrers, country). Individual visitors are not identified or fingerprinted.

Data retention

• Probe results: indefinitely, as part of public outage history.
• User reports: indefinitely in aggregate; the salted IP hash is purged after 30 days.
• Server access logs: rotated within 30 days.

Your rights

Because we don't hold accounts, there is usually no personal record to access or delete. If you posted a comment you'd like removed, contact us and we'll take it down.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the "Last updated" date at the top.
